Chapter 1 - The Shattered Frosting

The multi-tier wedding cake lay in absolute ruin across the gleaming marble floor of the grand banquet hall. Pink sugar roses mixed with crushed sponge cake and thick vanilla buttercream, staining the pristine white sugar architecture into an unrecognizable mess. Eleanor Carter stood amidst the wreckage, her blue satin dress completely ruined by sticky white frosting and deep indigo fruit compote. A fresh scratch bled slowly across her forehead, stinging from the salt of her sweat. She stared down at her trembling hands, her breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps. Across the aisle, Julian stood frozen in his immaculate black tuxedo, his bow tie slightly askew, looking at her with a terrifying mixture of betrayal and absolute disbelief.

Victoria Vance stood tall and rigid, her glittering silver gown catching the harsh crystal chandelier light. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a severe chignon, and her finger remained extended, pointing directly at Eleanor's chest with venomous precision. The banquet hall was dead silent, the dozens of high-society guests holding their collective breath.

"You never belonged in this family!" Victoria screamed, her voice cracking with suppressed fury as she stepped over a fallen pillar of white fondant.

Eleanor wiped a clump of frosting from her cheek, her eyes wide with shock and indignation. The humiliation burned deep inside her chest, but the accusation cut far sharper than the physical blow. She staggered backward against an overturned table, her mind racing to connect the dots of the nightmare unfolding around her.

"You stole my mother's necklace!" Eleanor shot back, her voice shaking violently as she pointed an accusing finger straight back at Victoria. "You planted it in my dressing room to frame me before the ceremony even began!"

Victoria scoffed, a cold, calculated smirk touching the corners of her painted lips. "Nobody is going to believe a penniless interloper over a Vance. You were a mistake from the very beginning."

Before Eleanor could form another stinging retort, heavy footsteps echoed across the marble entrance. Arthur Vance, the silver-haired patriarch of the family, strode forward with a grim, immovable expression. He was flanked by two uniformed police officers whose heavy boots clicked ominously against the floor. Arthur stopped just inches from Eleanor, his eyes cold and devoid of any familial warmth.

"Mrs. Carter," Arthur said, his voice deep and authoritative, carrying easily across the silent room. "These documents connect you to massive corporate fraud."

Julian gasped, stepping forward. "Father, what are you talking about?"

Arthur pulled a thick manila folder from his breast pocket and held it out toward the officers, never breaking his intense stare into Eleanor's panicked eyes.

"The signatures on the offshore shell company accounts belong to Eleanor," Arthur declared coldly. "She drained our family foundation's emergency reserves."

Eleanor stared at the folder in sheer horror as the police officers stepped closer and pulled out a pair of steel handcuffs.
