Chapter 9: The Assembled Board

The emergency shareholder meeting of Sterling Global Enterprises—now officially rebranded under its original parent designation, Vance-Sterling Holdings—was held in the cavernous main auditorium of the downtown corporate headquarters. The room was packed to capacity with financial journalists, institutional investors, minority shareholders, and federal observers. The atmosphere was electric, charged with the chaotic energy of a corporate dynasty being violently reborn.
Elena walked down the center aisle flanked by Marcus and two federal marshals. She wore a striking crimson blazer dress that commanded immediate attention, her bruised cheek now completely healed under professional makeup. Every eye in the auditorium turned toward her as she ascended the polished marble steps to the elevated boardroom stage, where the remaining directors—those who hadn't fled or been arrested—sat in stunned silence.
She took her seat at the center of the mahogany table, placing Thomas Miller’s sworn affidavit and the newly authenticated maintenance logs directly in front of the microphone. The murmurs in the audience immediately died down, replaced by a breathless, heavy hush.
"Good morning," Elena began, her voice carrying crisp and clear through the state-of-the-art sound system, broadcasting live to millions of viewers across financial news networks worldwide. "Effective 9:00 AM this morning, the Vance family has reclaimed absolute voting control of this institution. The era of corporate corruption, hostile intimidation, and criminal mismanagement led by Eleanor Sterling is officially over."
A murmur of shock rippled through the press gallery. Flashbulbs blinded the stage as cameras captured every detail of her composed, resolute expression. One of the remaining compromised directors, a nervous-looking man named Richard Vance—no relation, but a longtime crony of Eleanor—stood up from his chair, his face flushed with anger.
"You have no legal standing for a hostile takeover of this magnitude!" Richard shouted, pointing a trembling finger at her. "The board requires a formal seventy-five percent majority vote to restructure leadership. You're violating SEC regulations!"

Elena didn't even flinch. She pressed a button on her console, and the massive high-definition screen behind the stage flickered to life. Projected in bold, crystal-clear detail was a certified federal indictment charging Richard and his fellow co-conspirators with insider trading, corporate bribery, and complicity in financial obstruction.
"Section Four of the corporate charter clearly states that any director participating in fraudulent asset concealment or criminal conspiracy against the primary shareholder’s bloodline is instantly disqualified from voting rights," Elena stated calmly, her eyes locking onto Richard until the man slowly, humiliated, sank back into his chair. "Furthermore, federal marshals are currently waiting outside this auditorium with warrants for your immediate arrest. You might want to save your legal arguments for the magistrate."
