Chapter 1 - The Miranda Warning of the Milestones

Officer Miller stood tall over the sun-drenched sidewalk, his dark blue uniform crisp and his utility belt heavy with gear. He looked down with a stern, unyielding gaze at the tiny figure sitting on the concrete. Next to the baby, a red plastic toy car rested quietly in the dust. Miller planted his boots firmly, his short haircut and trimmed beard accentuating his severe expression. He took a slow breath, letting the tension settle in the heavy afternoon air.
“You are under arrest,” Miller said firmly, his voice cutting through the distant hum of traffic.
Baby Timothy looked up from the pavement, his bright brown eyes wide with absolute shock. His mouth dropped open in disbelief, his colorful striped onesie catching the glaring sunlight. The tiny fingers gripped the edge of the toy car tighter, knuckles turning white. Timothy blinked slowly, processing the incomprehensible words thrown at him by the state.
“But why?” Timothy asked, his voice a bewildered, high-pitched squeak that defied his infant biology.
“Because your followers comments, likes, and shares are too low,” Miller replied, his tone entirely devoid of sarcasm, treating the algorithm as the supreme law of the land.
Timothy’s chest rose and fell rapidly beneath his striped onesie as panic threatened to overwhelm his tiny frame. He had poured every ounce of his toddler soul into those morning rattle-shaking streams and naptime vlogs, yet the metrics had flatlined. The algorithm was a harsh master, and Officer Miller was its faithful hound.
“That is completely unfair!” Timothy shouted, waving his tiny fists in the air with dramatic indignation. “I did a brand collab with the teething ring sponsor yesterday and my engagement rate was stabilizing!”
“Stabilizing isn't viral, kid,” Miller retorted, stepping closer and tapping his glowing badge. “The Department of Digital Compliance doesn't care about stability. You missed your hourly growth quota by four hundred impressions. The penalty is immediate detention.”
“You can’t do this to me! I’m teething!” Timothy cried out, his lower lip trembling as he realized this wasn't an elaborate prank for clout. “My target demographic is parents needing a distraction, not heartless bureaucrats with badges!”
Miller knelt down slowly, his knees popping against the concrete, bringing himself eye-level with the detained infant. He pulled out a sleek smartphone from his utility belt, tapping the glass screen with a heavy thumb. The screen cast a cold blue light across his stern face, displaying a terrifying graph that plummeted straight toward zero.

Timothy watched the screen with horror, realizing the battery percentage of his entire career was dangerously low. Miller cleared his throat, swiped to a new notification, and tapped the speakerphone icon, revealing a terrifying voice on the other end of the line.
