The next morning, Sarah received an encrypted message. Eleanor had filed an emergency legal order, claiming Jack had abducted Lily while suffering a severe psychotic break. State troopers were actively searching for Jack’s vehicle.
""She’s trapping us,"" Sarah said, pacing the room. ""If the police stop you, they’ll hand Lily right back to Eleanor under legal guardianship while you get arrested.""
""Then we don't let the police handle this quietly,"" Jack said, his mind racing. ""Eleanor is speaking at the National Child Development Gala in downtown Seattle tomorrow night. Every major media outlet, politician, and donor will be in that ballroom.""
