Chapter 14: The Confession
Lily stood tall, her eyes locked on the woman who had haunted her nightmares. "Why are you here, Vanessa?"
Vanessa didn't ask for money. She didn't ask for Vincent. Slowly, painfully, she dropped to her knees right there on the campus grass.
"To say I am sorry," Vanessa whispered, her voice breaking. "I was a cruel, jealous, deeply broken woman. You were an innocent child, and I tried to destroy you because I hated myself. The coffee... the gift card you left me... it broke me. It saved me. I don't expect you to forgive me. I just needed you to know that you won. You are entirely good, and I am so, so deeply sorry."
