Chapter 13 - The Breach at Terminal Nine

The Busan container terminal looked like the gates of hell under the midday fog. Thick black plumes of smoke billowed from burning warehouses, blotting out the sun and turning the sky an apocalyptic shade of charcoal. The ocean was churning with debris, and the wail of distant fireboats provided a grim symphony to the carnage.

A convoy of heavily armed mercenaries guarded the entrance to Berth 4, where a massive, rust-hulled container ship was preparing to cast off its moorings. Chairman Song was on that ship, clutching briefcases containing bearer bonds and offshore transaction keys worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Suddenly, a massive industrial logging truck slammed through the harbor’s perimeter checkpoint at eighty miles an hour.

The mercenaries opened fire, riddling the reinforced steel cabin with heavy caliber rounds, but the truck didn't slow. Min-hyuk had welded thick steel plates across the engine block and windshield. The mammoth vehicle plowed directly into the primary barricade of stacked shipping containers, flipping three armed trucks and detonating their fuel tanks in a blinding mushroom of orange flame.

Min-hyuk rolled out of the driver’s side before impact, landing hard on the wet asphalt and coming up firing.

Equipped with ceramic body armor and a high-caliber rifle, he advanced through the burning wreckage like a vengeful specter. He didn't yell; he didn't hesitate. Every squeeze of his trigger put down a mercenary who had sold their soul to Song’s blood money. He was fighting with the ferocity of a man who had already accepted his own death, yet refused to die before his ledger was balanced.

His lieutenant flanked him, laying down suppressive fire with a light machine gun, detonating fuel barrels along the wharf to split the defenders' ranks. Together, they cut a swath of absolute devastation through the terminal, marching straight toward the gangway of the escaping cargo vessel.

As Min-hyuk reached the base of the metal stairs leading onto the ship's main deck, a grenade tumbled down the gangway, bouncing off the steel steps.

"Boss, down!" the lieutenant screamed, throwing his entire body over Min-hyuk.

The explosion tore through the air, sending jagged shrapnel screaming across the concrete pier.
