Chapter 12: Returning to the Roots

Victor decided to make Willow Creek their permanent home. He sold his house near the city and used his honest savings to purchase the cottage and the surrounding land down by the creek.

He opened a small custom woodworking shop near Sarah’s bakery, using his strength and skill to craft hand-carved furniture, wooden toys, and home fixtures for the townspeople.

The locals welcomed them with open arms. They didn't see Victor as a scandalous billionaire's son or a media headline; they saw him as Catherine's devoted husband and a hardworking father who loved his daughter dearly.

Every afternoon, Lily would walk over from the local elementary school, her shoes dusty from the mountain trail, carrying her drawings to show her father in the workshop.

"Look, Daddy!" Lily cheered one afternoon, holding up a painting of the white cottage surrounded by tall pine trees and bright red flowers. "I drew Mama’s garden!"

Victor set down his chisel, wiping wood dust from his hands, and pulled her into a warm hug. "It's beautiful, sweetheart. Just like Mama’s real garden."
