Chapter 8: The Double Cross

Viktor tapped his fingers on the table. He typed a routing number into Arthur's tablet. Arthur authorized the transfer. The screen flashed green. Confirmed.
""A pleasure doing business,"" Viktor said, standing up. He motioned to his guards. ""Kill him. And dispose of the girl. We leave tonight.""
Arthur’s heart pounded, but his face remained a mask of stone. He had expected this. ""I told you, Viktor. I am a businessman. I never make an investment without insurance.""

Before Viktor could react, the lights in the entire warehouse abruptly cut out, plunging them into pitch-black darkness. Leo had done his job.
Chaos erupted. Shouts in Russian echoed off the metal walls. Gunfire blindly illuminated the dark in chaotic flashes. Arthur dropped to the ground, crawling quickly toward the shipping crates on the far left—the location Leo had identified via thermal imaging as the holding cell.
