Chapter 1 - The Last Stroke of the Belt

The crystal chandelier cast a blinding, faceted glare across the mahogany floor of the grand ballroom, illuminating the grotesque theater of high society’s cruelty. Julian Vance stood over Elora, his chest heaving inside his immaculate burgundy tuxedo jacket, his fingers clenched tightly around a heavy leather belt. Elora knelt on the polished wood in her ruined silver evening gown, her pinkish hair matted with sweat, her breath hitching in her chest. Around them, the elite of the city applauded, their laughter ringing like brittle glass. Among them stood Clara, her dark hair cascading over her green one-shoulder evening gown, holding a glass of deep red wine and smiling with predatory delight as she joined the chorus of jeers.

Julian raised the belt high, his face twisted in sadistic triumph. He brought it down for the final time, the leather hissing through the air before striking the floor with a dull thud.

“One hundred ninety-eight,” Julian bellowed, his voice echoing off the vaulted ceilings.

The crowd erupted, their voices merging into a single, ugly roar of synchronized counting.

“One hundred ninety-nine!” Clara shrieked, raising her wine glass in a mock toast.

“Two hundred!” the entire room cheered in unison, reveling in the public humiliation of a woman they believed was entirely broken.

Elora did not cry. Her face remained a mask of cold, terrifying resolve. While Julian and Clara bathed in their applause, Elora’s hand darted toward her clutch on the floor, her fingers instantly locking onto her hidden cell phone. With lightning speed, she punched in a ten-digit sequence and pressed the device to her ear.

“Dad,” Elora whispered, her voice cutting through the celebratory din like a razor blade. “Destroy his entire life.”

Clara froze, her smile instantly evaporating. The crystal wine glass slipped from her fingers, shattering against the floorboards as a pool of red wine spread across her feet, mirroring a phantom stain. Julian dropped the heavy belt, his expression shifting from arrogance to sheer panic.

“Who did you just call?” Julian stammered, stepping back. “Who is it?”

Before anyone could answer, a deafening mechanical roar shook the mansion’s stained-glass windows. A blinding, militaristic searchlight cut through the darkness outside, bathing the ballroom in an unforgiving white glare. Elora slowly rose to her feet. She deliberately turned her back to the terrified crowd, letting the heavy fabric of her ruined silver gown slide down her shoulders. Revealed to the room were the crisscrossing, jagged scars carved deep into her flesh—a permanent map of Julian’s systematic abuse.

A prominent city councilman in the front row dropped his champagne flute, his face draining of all color as he stared at the carnage.

“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!” a panicked voice screamed from the paralyzed crowd.

Suddenly, the heavy double doors of the ballroom blew inward with a concussive blast, splintering wood flying everywhere as heavily armed tactical operators flooded the room, their assault rifles raised and laser sights painting the chests of the elite. Julian and Clara collapsed backward onto the floor, paralyzed by terror as Elora stood amidst the chaos, utterly triumphant.
