Chapter 8: The River Facility**

Panic erupted outside the manor as federal Marshals, tipped off by Julian’s team, swarmed the gates. But Julian didn't wait to watch Sterling get cuffed. He commandeered a dark sedan from the motor pool and sped toward the Potomac River facility.
Time was running out. Sterling’s private mercenaries had received the burn order: eliminate all assets and destroy the evidence before federal authorities arrived.
The river facility looked like a decommissioned water treatment plant surrounded by razor-wire fences. As Julian approached, smoke was already billowing from the administrative annex—they were incinerating hard drives and documents.
Julian breached the rear perimeter fence, moving with lethal precision through the foggy yard. Gunshots rang out in the damp air as two guards attempted to intercept him. Julian neutralized them with swift, non-lethal tactical takedowns, kicking their rifles aside.
He kicked open the heavy metal door leading into the basement holding cells. The air smelled of burnt insulation and chemical fire suppressants.

"Clara!" Julian shouted, his voice cutting through the blaring alarms. "Clara Miller!"
