Chapter 15 - A New Beginning

Three months later, the morning sun poured through the wide stained-glass windows of the restored estate foyer, warming the polished marble floors where Leo had once run away in tears. The dark suit and crooked bow tie were gone, replaced by a comfortable blue sweater and a bright, genuine smile that had finally returned to his face.

Clara stood beside him, watching as the court-appointed trustee handed over the final, legitimate papers restoring the entire estate and his late biological parents' true legacy back to its rightful heir. The corrupt offshore accounts had been seized, and the Vance name was being cleansed of its decades of darkness.

Leo walked out the front double doors, stepping into the sprawling gardens where the flowers were finally blooming in the spring warmth. He held the small silver pocket watch in his palm, clicking the cover open to watch the steady, reliable tick of the second hand.

Thomas pulled up the driveway in his old pickup truck, leaning out the window with a wide grin. "Hey, kiddo! You ready to go check out that treehouse we're building in the backyard?"

Leo slipped the watch into his pocket, turning back to give Clara a quick wave before breaking into a joyful, carefree run across the grass—not running away in fear anymore, but running forward into a future he had fought hard to reclaim.
