Chapter 7

Julian didn't argue. Instead, he placed his tablet flat on the mahogany table and tapped the screen. A cable connected the device to the room's main projection system, and instantly, the massive screen behind Marcus flickered to life.
It wasn't the edited, out-of-context snippet that had been sent to the tabloids. It was the complete, raw, unedited footage from the Grandview Hotel's secure server, complete with digital timestamps and network packet headers.
The room watched in stunned silence as the video played out in real-time. They saw Marcus sitting at his penthouse terminal at ten-fourteen PM, executing a remote script that triggered the hotel's public address system to page Elena with false information about her dressing room. They watched as he transmitted the exact coordinates of the hallway to her phone. They saw the seamless, undeniable proof that the diamond necklace had never actually been stolen by Clara; it had been carried out of the VIP suite by Marcus’s own personal assistant, wearing identical gloves, and left in the corridor precisely ninety seconds before Elena arrived.
The video progressed to the hallway confrontation. The sound of the slap echoed clearly through the high-end conference room speakers. Clara’s trembling voice filled the space: “I didn't steal it!”
Then came Julian’s voice: “Did you really think no one was watching?”
And finally, Elena’s wide-eyed shock as she looked up at the security camera.
When the screen finally went dark, the silence in the room was absolute. Arthur Vance stared at his nephew, the color draining from his face. The other board member sank back into his leather chair, shaking his head slowly in disbelief.
Marcus stood up abruptly, knocking his chair backward against the floor with a loud crash. "This is a fabrication! You hacked the network! You manipulated the logs to protect her!"

"The cryptographic signatures are backed by blockchain verification protocols managed by an independent third party," Julian stated calmly, leaning back and crossing one leg over the other. "In other words, Marcus, not even the hotel’s system administrator could forge those logs without leaving a digital footprint that leads directly back to your personal hardware."
Marcus opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. His eyes darted toward the door, calculating the distance, realizing with sudden, crushing finality that his meticulously built empire of deceit had completely collapsed in less than twelve hours.
