Chapter 1

Julian stood in the center of the vast dining room, his custom pink suit contrasting sharply against the rich mahogany of the formal table. His dark hair was styled with precision, and a thin layer of stubble shadowed his jawline. Opposite him stood Elena, her dark hair pulled back into a severe ponytail, wearing a purple sleeveless halter dress and gold high heels that clicked softly against the polished hardwood floor. Between them lay the grey cleaning cloth—a trivial object that had somehow become the focal point of a marriage built entirely on control and dominance. Julian handed it to her with a firm, unforgiving movement. His voice cut through the heavy silence of the large house, carrying the weight of years of unspoken grievances.
“Kneel down. Clean the floor,” Julian commanded, his tone hard and unyielding.
Elena did not flinch. She took the grey cloth, lifted it slowly, and pressed the fabric against her cheek, feeling the rough texture. Instead of showing submission, a soft, enigmatic smile touched her lips. She looked past him toward the grand staircase where a pink suitcase rested against the banister.
“I’m going upstairs,” Elena said quietly, her voice devoid of fear.
Julian’s anger flared instantly. He stepped forward, pointing his finger directly at her face. The veneer of his calm composure fractured under the weight of her defiance.
“No. You finish what you were told,” Julian said sternly.
Ignoring his command, Elena turned on her heel, her gold high heels clicking rhythmically as she walked toward the stairs, reaching down to pick up her pink suitcase. Enraged by her blatant disobedience, Julian bolted across the room and shoved her hard from behind, shouting at the top of his lungs.
“I said stay upstairs!” Julian yelled.
The physical impact sent Elena stumbling backward onto the lower steps of the staircase. But as she lost her footing, a sudden, unexpected shift in momentum caused Julian to trip over his own expensive leather shoes. He fell backward, tumbling hard onto the wooden steps. At the top of the landing, his mother, Evelyn, watched the entire scene in absolute shock, her pearl necklace gleaming under the chandelier. Elena righted herself, her expression composed and icy, looking down at her fallen husband.

“Learn your own rules,” Elena said firmly.
She turned away, leaving Julian groaning on the stairs and Evelyn trembling above.
