Chapter 15: The Final Move

The autumn sun dipped below the Manhattan skyline, casting a golden amber glow across the rooftop terrace of the Vance Tower. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the potted maples that lined the glass perimeter. Below, the city traffic flowed like a river of glittering lights, endlessly moving through the veins of the metropolis.
Clara stood by the glass railing, wearing a simple blue sundress, watching her daughter chase a glowing soap bubble across the polished stone patio. The little girl’s joyful laughter echoed softly against the evening air, completely untbothered by the complex machinery of power and greed that had once threatened to tear their world apart.

She sat down, resting her hands on the edge of the table. Julian sat opposite her, his dark eyes meeting hers with a quiet, profound affection that needed no grand gestures to prove its depth. The long nightmare of the marble stairs, the screams in the lobby, the cold obsidian tables of the boardroom, and the terrifying shadows of his uncle’s conspiracy felt like a lifetime away. They had survived the fall because they had refused to let go of each other when the ground gave way beneath their feet.
