Chapter 7: Ascent to Justice

The heavy steel doors of the grand ballroom swung open with a resounding bang that instantly silenced the murmuring crowd of elite guests, wealthy investors, and corrupt politicians. Arthur Vance was standing near the dais, holding a crystal champagne glass and smiling warmly at a local senator, when the rhythmic thud of tactical boots echoed across the polished marble floor.
A dozen federal agents moved into the room with practiced precision, securing the exits and blocking every hallway. The guests gasped in shock, scattering toward the edges of the room like startled birds as Agent Sarah Vance strode down the center aisle, her badge held high and shining brilliantly under the crystal chandeliers.
Arthur’s smile faltered, replaced instantly by a mask of cold, haughty indignation. He set his glass down on a nearby silver tray with a sharp clink that cut through the absolute silence of the room.
"What is the meaning of this outrage?" Arthur demanded, stepping forward to block Sarah’s path. "Do you have any idea who I am? I will have your badge before the sun rises tomorrow."
Sarah did not even slow her pace. She stopped two feet away from him, her expression carved from granite. "Arthur Vance, you are under arrest for corporate fraud, money laundering, racketeering, and the systematic embezzlement of pension funds. Here is the warrant."
She unfolded a thick sheaf of legal documents and pressed them firmly against his chest. Behind Sarah, Julian walked into the ballroom, flanked by two federal agents to maintain the legal illusion of detaining everyone involved until identities were sorted. He wore his black suit with an air of absolute calm, his eyes fixed steadily on his uncle.
Arthur’s gaze snapped past Sarah, landing directly on Julian. The realization hit the patriarch with the force of a physical blow. The betrayal was absolute, calculated, and executed with terrifying precision.
"You," Arthur whispered, his voice trembling with suppressed rage. "You ungrateful little bastard. I gave you everything."
"You gave me a cage and expected me to smile while you locked the door," Julian replied evenly, stopping a few paces away. "The game is over, Arthur. The accounts are frozen, the files are downloaded, and your empire is gone."

Panic rippled through the crowd of guests. Several prominent politicians and hedge fund managers immediately began edging toward the side doors, only to find federal agents blocking their exit with quiet, unyielding authority. The glittering illusion of the Vance dynasty was dissolving into a very real, very public nightmare.
Elena stepped through the ballroom doors last, her white button-down shirt still bearing the faint stains of dish soap and ash, her hair still pulled back in its simple bun. She did not look like a servant, nor did she look like a victim. She walked with the quiet, devastating grace of a survivor reclaiming her rightful place in the world.
