Chapter 7: The Gathering Storm in the Boardroom

While Julian fumed outside the iron gates of the Vance estate, the executive boardrooms of Sterling Enterprises downtown were enduring a seismic meltdown of epic proportions. Arthur Vance sat in the VIP viewing gallery overlooking the primary trading floor, flanked by two corporate security advisors and a team of forensic accountants. Below them, emergency board members were huddled in frantic clusters, their faces pale as they stared at the real-time ticker showing the catastrophic freefall of the company's stock value.
Marcus Vance, Arthur’s younger brother and a veteran member of the corporate board who had long opposed Julian’s rapid ascent, walked into the gallery holding a thick leather-bound dossier. He handed it silently to Arthur, his expression grim.
"The federal subpoena was executed twenty minutes ago," Marcus said, his voice low and gravelly. "The marshals seized the primary servers on the fifth floor. They found the digital signatures, the offshore shell companies in the Caymans, and the unauthorized transfer of R&D capital that Julian used to fund his private acquisitions."
Arthur took the dossier, flipping through the printed email threads and bank statements that detailed the systematic betrayal. "And the board? Have they finally realized who they hitched their wagon to?"
"They're terrified," Marcus replied, a dry, humorless smile touching his lips. "Half of them are drafting their resignation letters as we speak, trying to distance themselves before the indictments drop. Julian tried to address the assembly ten minutes ago, but security escorted him out before he could even reach the podium."
"Good," Arthur said, closing the dossier with a sharp thud that echoed in the quiet gallery. "He wanted an empire built on deception and intimidation. Now he can watch it burn to the ground from the outside."
"What about Elena?" Marcus asked, his tone softening with genuine paternal concern. "The press has already gotten hold of the police report regarding the domestic disturbance call from last night. Photographers are swarming the perimeter of our estate."

"Elena is stronger than you think," Arthur replied firmly, his gaze fixed on the frantic movement of traders below. "For years, she carried the burden of trying to keep that marriage alive because she believed in loyalty. But once a boundary is crossed—once a man raises his hand against his own wife—there is no going back. She’s fighting back now, and she won't stop until justice is fully served."
"Well, she has the entire Vance family behind her," Marcus affirmed, placing a reassuring hand on his brother’s shoulder. "Julian thought he was marrying into a declining dynasty. He’s about to discover what happens when you wake a sleeping giant."
