Chapter 14

Richard looked up as Koralie approached the table. His eyes were red-rimmed, carrying the weight of a man who had narrowly avoided destroying his own family for the sake of an illusion. He reached out and picked up a second, fresh white place card from the tray of stationery nearby. With a steady hand and a black fountain pen, he wrote a single name on the card in elegant cursive.
He placed it gently into the clear glass holder in the center of the head table, right beside the one that read "Bride."
Koralie looked down at the new card. Written in her father's familiar handwriting was her mother’s full name: Elena.
"She belongs here, Koralie," Richard whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "She always did. I was a fool to let anyone convince me otherwise."
"Thank you, Dad," Koralie replied softly, the last barrier of resentment finally melting away. She reached out and placed her hand over his. "The past can't be rewritten, but we can honor it honestly from here on out."
Julian walked into the room, dressed in his formal wedding suit, holding a boutonnière of white roses. He smiled warmly at Koralie and nodded respectfully to Richard. "The legal filings are complete. The trust has been restored to its original charter, and Eleanor’s legal counsel has formally withdrawn all claims to the estate management board. Everything is clean."
Chloe entered right behind him, carrying a small velvet box containing the wedding rings. She looked lighter, her posture relaxed, the burden of her mother's expectations finally lifted from her shoulders. "The caterers are resetting the brunch menu for our real guests," Chloe announced with a small, genuine smile. "And Marcus Vance’s corporate sycophants have officially cleared out of the parking lot."

Koralie looked around the dining room. The crystal chandeliers caught the midday sunlight, casting sparkling patterns across the candlelit tables and white roses. The artificial grandeur engineered by Eleanor was gone, replaced by something much more powerful: authenticity, accountability, and truth.
"Let them come," Koralie said, her eyes bright with determination and peace. "The wedding is still on."
