Chapter 15

The morning sun broke gently over the city skyline, casting a warm, golden glow across the newly rebuilt sidewalk of the downtown historic block.
Bistro Lumiere had undergone a miraculous restoration, its fresh paint and clean glass windows gleaming proudly under the clear blue sky.
Inside, the dining room was filled with the soft hum of happy customers enjoying their morning coffee and pastries in peace.
Standing behind the counter in her crisp white shirt and black vest, the waitress smiled as she poured a fresh cup of coffee for a regular guest.
The nightmare of corporate corruption, false accusations, and burning alleys was finally nothing more than a distant memory.
The front door chimed softly, and Marcus and Leo walked into the bistro, both wearing relaxed smiles and carrying morning newspapers.
The front-page headline of the city's leading daily read in bold letters: VANCE EMPIRE COLLAPSES: CORPORATE FRAUDSTER ARRESTED IN FEDERAL RAID.
"Looks like your picture made the front page again," Leo teased good-naturedly, sliding the newspaper across the counter toward her.
The waitress laughed, glancing down at the photograph of herself and Leo standing side-by-side outside the courthouse after Victoria's indictment hearing.
The caption underneath praised their incredible bravery in exposing one of the largest real estate conspiracies in the city's history.
"I still can't believe it's actually over," the waitress said softly, setting the coffee pot down on its saucer with absolute care. "No more hiding, no more running."
"Justice takes time, but truth always finds a way out," Marcus said, taking a seat at the corner table where the entire ordeal had originally begun weeks ago.
The manager of the bistro walked out from the back office, looking considerably more relaxed than he had during the chaotic investigation.
He approached the counter, stepping up to the waitress with a warm, genuine smile of apology and deep appreciation.
"First round of coffee is on the house today," the manager said, nodding respectfully to her. "And by the way, corporate headquarters just approved your promotion to assistant general manager."
The waitress blinked in surprise, her eyes widening as a wave of genuine accomplishment washed over her.
"Are you serious? After everything that happened?"
"Because of everything that happened," the manager corrected softly, placing a new name tag on the counter engraved with her promotion. "This bistro stands on truth and integrity now. And that starts with you."
She picked up the shiny silver name tag, pinning it proudly to the pocket of her black vest as the morning rush began to hum around her with vibrant life.

She looked out the sparkling front window at the bustling street outside, knowing she had earned her place in the world through courage and unwavering strength.
As she poured the next cup of coffee for a waiting customer, she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, her foundation was unbreakable.
