Chapter 14 - The Final Convergence

The blinding violet flash tore through the command center, transforming the sterile white walls into shimmering sheets of translucent glass that rippled like water under a stormy sky. The base alarms fell utterly silent, replaced by a low, harmonic hum that vibrated directly inside their bones.
Lucas stumbled backward, his vision blurring as the boundaries between the physical command room and the bridge of the sunken USS Leviathan began to overlap. He could see the rusted steel bulkheads of the doomed destroyer bleeding through the modern naval architecture around him, superimposing two different eras into a single, terrifying reality.
“The temporal lock is destabilizing!” Sarah yelled over the harmonic hum, her voice cutting through the ringing in her ears. She forced her body forward, fighting against the invisible gravitational pull dragging her toward the center of the violet vortex. “If the containment core overloads, both timelines will collapse into each other permanently!”
The alternate Sarah stood unmoving at the epicenter of the fracture, her hollow eyes fixed steadily on the original Sarah.
“There is no separation anymore,” the alternate Sarah spoke, her voice echoing with the collective weight of every lost soul from the North Atlantic disaster. “You carried the signal, Sarah. You built the bridge. We are merely crossing the final threshold.”
Marcus stepped past Lucas, ignoring the physical pain wrenching at his joints. He walked directly toward the alternate version of Sarah, his face set in a mask of grim, absolute resolve.
“You’re wrong,” Marcus said, his voice ringing with fierce, unyielding conviction. “The loop ends here. We don't repeat history; we end it.”
Marcus reached out, his weathered hand gripping the pulsing violet containment core on the terminal with raw, desperate strength.
The alternate Sarah’s dead eyes widened in sudden, sharp surprise. She lunged forward to stop him, but Lucas was already there, tackling her to the reinforced glass floor with a ferocious grunt, pinning her beneath his weight as the spatial static roared around them like a hurricane.
“Do it now, Captain!” Lucas screamed, fighting against the unearthly strength of the alternate officer beneath him. “Break the core!”
Sarah didn't hesitate. She drew her combat knife from her tactical belt, raised it high above her head with both hands, and drove the heavy steel blade with all her remaining strength straight down into the glowing heart of the containment core.
