Chapter 15: Dawn Over the Ruins

Three days later, the mansion was nearly empty. Moving boxes lined the grand hallway where the crystal chandelier still sparkled. The illicit cash had been completely cleared out, transferred and liquidated into legitimate humanitarian foundations—a final, ironic cleansing of a dirty fortune.
The man stood by the front entrance, wearing a simple jacket over a dark shirt, his tattoos visible on his wrists as he packed the last bag into the trunk of a modest sedan. Holding his hand was the little girl, dressed in a comfortable yellow jacket, clutching her favorite toy with a bright, hopeful smile.
As they drove away down the winding estate driveway, the heavy iron gates swung open, leaving the gilded cage behind forever. There were no vaults, no syndicates, and no red evening gowns—only the open road and a quiet dawn promising a genuinely human future. True wealth, he realized, was never measured in stacks of cash behind locked steel doors, but in the freedom to walk away into the light with a clear conscience and a safe child by your side.
