Chapter 13: The Final Ultimatum

The encrypted satellite phone on the man's desk buzzed violently, shattering the morning quiet. He answered on the first ring, his voice low, steady, and devoid of any human warmth.

“You picked the wrong house,” the man stated calmly into the receiver.

On the other end, a tense, shaky voice belonging to the syndicate boss tried to maintain a facade of authority. “Release her, and we can negotiate terms for the vault assets. You can't fight an entire network alone.”

A cold, humorless chuckle escaped the man's lips. “Assets? Money is just paper stacked in a concrete box. You thought my wife was your ticket in, but she was just a canary in the coal mine.” He leaned forward, resting his tattooed hands on the desk. “Here are my terms: your accounts are frozen, your operatives are exposed, and your time is up. If you ever look in my direction again, the vault won't be the only tomb I seal today.”
