Chapter 13 - The Unspoken Vow
Julian walked slowly toward the primary ambulance where the first sister sat wrapped in silver foil. The rain hammered against the roof of the vehicle as he stepped inside, shutting the heavy doors behind him. "The game is over," Julian said quietly, placing the medical file on her lap. The woman looked down at the documents, her panicked expression vanishing instantly, replaced by a cold, sharp demeanor that Julian had never seen before. She leaned back against the padded wall of the ambulance and crossed her legs. "So you finally figured out the contract," she said, her voice completely stripped of its previous desperation. "Then you know why you can never leave this marriage."
