Chapter 12 - Ashes of Deception
"Mr. Julian," the lead detective said, snapping open the soot-covered box. "We found this inside the safe. You need to see this immediately." Inside were two sets of passports, three different marriage certificates, and medical records detailing extensive reconstructive facial surgeries performed in a private clinic overseas three years ago. Attached to the bottom of the stack was a DNA test report comparing Mia's blood sample to both sisters. Julian read the final line of the lab report, his stomach churning violently as the truth was laid out in black ink. Neither of the two women was named Clara; both were hired body doubles used to protect a vast corporate inheritance.
