Chapter 15: The Unbroken Circle

The coastal breeze swept gently through the open balcony doors of their seaside retreat, carrying the crisp, salty scent of the ocean and the soothing sound of rolling waves crashing against the shore below. It was late afternoon, and the golden hour sunlight bathed the modern, minimalist living room in a warm, amber glow. Clara stood by the railing, wearing a simple lavender sundress that caught the breeze, her light brown hair flowing freely around her shoulders without the restrictive pins of her wedding updo.

Julian walked out onto the balcony behind her, carrying two glasses of iced lemonade. He handed one to her with a quiet, affectionate smile before wrapping his arms around her waist, resting his chin comfortably on her shoulder as they watched the sun slowly dip toward the horizon.

"It's hard to believe it was only a week ago that Lily opened that wardrobe door," Clara reflected softly, her voice filled with a quiet sense of wonder as she looked out over the endless expanse of the blue ocean.

"It feels like a lifetime ago," Julian agreed, tightening his embrace slightly. "That wardrobe held a lot of things, Clara. Fear, shame, secrets that should have stayed buried long before we were born. But if it hadn't happened—if Lily hadn't opened that door—we might have gone into our marriage carrying the invisible weight of those ghosts forever."
