Chapter 15

The morning sun rose slowly over St. Jude Memorial Hospital, casting a warm, golden light across the polished glass and brick facade that no longer looked cold and menacing, but simply like a building once again. Inside the federal investigator's temporary office set up in the hospital's main conference room, the air was quiet, filled only with the soft rustle of paperwork and the distant murmur of voices discussing the dismantling of Richard Miller’s decades-long conspiracy.
David sat in a comfortable armchair by the window, holding his newborn daughter securely in his arms while Clara rested her head against his shoulder. Across the room, Leo was drinking a small carton of chocolate milk provided by a sympathetic federal marshal, his dark eyes calmly watching the agents pack their briefcases with the confiscated ledgers and digital drives. The Vanguard network had imploded within hours of Leo's data-dump; arrests were being made from the hospital boardrooms down to the private research archives across three states.
A tall, silver-haired federal prosecutor walked over to David, extending his hand with a respectful nod. "Mr. Miller, Mrs. Miller. I want to personally thank you. What your son helped uncover today is going to rewrite medical ethics oversight for the next generation. The individuals responsible for tampering with your family are in federal custody, and they will never see the light of day again."
David shook the man's hand firmly. "Thank you. Just make sure the system is clean. That's all we ever wanted."
"It's clean," the prosecutor replied softly before turning and walking out of the room, leaving the family in peace.
Clara looked down at the tiny infant sleeping peacefully in David's arms, a gentle smile finally gracing her features as the last remnants of the nightmare faded away like morning mist. She reached out, gently stroking the baby's soft cheek.

"She has your eyes, David," Clara whispered, her voice filled with a profound, unbroken peace.
David looked down at his daughter, then glanced over at Leo, who offered a small, knowing smile in return. The shadows of the past had finally been swept away by the harsh, honest light of truth. For the first time in their lives, the future belonged entirely to them, unwritten and completely free.
