A Mother’s Letter

On Emma’s eighth birthday, Nate took her to the quiet family library at their estate.

From a locked cedar chest, he brought out a wooden box carved with wild roses. Inside were letters written by Emma’s biological mother, Sarah, before she passed away.

"Your mother wrote one for every milestone in your life," Nate said softly, handing her the envelope marked For Emma on Your 8th Birthday.

Emma opened it with gentle hands. Sarah’s elegant handwriting flowed across the creamy paper:

> "My sweetest Emma,

> If you are reading this, it means you have grown into a brave, beautiful girl. Always remember that real love never hurts. Real love is patient, kind, and protects you like a warm blanket on a snowy night. Your father loves you more than the stars in the sky. Trust your heart, be kind to the world, and never let anyone dim your light."

Emma pressed the letter to her chest, tears of peaceful nostalgia falling upon her lap.

"I remember her voice, Daddy," Emma whispered. "She used to sing that song about the moon."

"She did," Nate smiled through his own tears, wrapping his arms around her. "And she is watching over you right now, so proud of how strong you are."
