Chapter 12 - The Cayman Wire Transfer

Charles Sterling’s words hung in the suffocating silence of the boardroom like a physical weight. Victoria lunged forward, her professional composure completely shattering as she slammed both palms onto the mahogany table.

"That document is a fraudulent fabrication!" Victoria shouted, her voice echoing shrilly off the glass walls. "Mr. Sterling, do not let an opportunistic trespasser derail a multi-billion-dollar enterprise based on a piece of paper fished out of a desk drawer!"

Charles didn't flinch. He slowly removed his reading glasses, laying them beside the disputed addendum with deliberate care. He turned his weathered gaze directly toward Arthur Vance, who still sat slumped at the head of the table, staring blindly at the polished wood.

"Arthur," Charles said, his voice dangerously quiet, devoid of its previous warmth. "Look me in the eye and tell me your mother didn't sign this. Tell me the primary capital funding for Vance Enterprises thirty years ago didn't originate from a disputed offshore account belonging to Eleanor's sister—Maya's mother."

The entire room held its breath. Every eye locked onto Arthur Vance. The powerful CEO, the titan of industry who had commanded boardrooms for decades, slowly raised his head. His lips parted, but no sound came out. He swallowed hard, a single bead of sweat tracking down his pale temple before he let out a long, shuddering sigh of absolute defeat.

"It's true," Arthur whispered, the confession tearing through the quiet room like broken glass. "All of it."

Victoria turned on her brother with pure venom, her face twisting in absolute disbelief. "Arthur! Have you lost your mind? If you admit to that on record, the SEC will be in our offices by noon! We’ll be facing federal wire fraud charges!"

"We're already facing them, Victoria," Maya said smoothly, reaching into her satchel once more. She pulled out a second, thicker file containing printed banking records and wire transfer receipts stamped with official international seals. "While you were busy planning a wedding to consolidate your assets, I spent the last three months working with international financial investigators tracking every dollar Eleanor tried to hide before she passed."

Maya tossed the financial file across the mahogany table. It slid effortlessly across the polished wood, stopping right in front of Charles Sterling.

"Look at page four," Maya instructed quietly. "That’s the Cayman Islands wire transfer executed at 11:45 PM on the night Eleanor died. Fifty-one percent of the controlling voting stock was legally transferred out of Arthur's corporate portfolio and placed directly into an independent trust bearing my name."

Julian Reed leaned forward from his corner observation seat, his digital recorder blinking a steady, rhythmic red light as it captured every single word.

Charles Sterling flipped open the financial file, his eyes scanning the official bank stamps and routing numbers. A grim, heavy silence settled over the room as the old man realized the inescapable reality of the evidence before him.

"The merger is suspended," Charles announced flatly, standing up from his chair with the heavy support of his cane. "Effective immediately. Sterling Global will not touch a corporation built on stolen inheritance and fabricated ownership."
