Chapter 15 - The Dawn of Bloodlines

The five-minute ultimatum hung over the manor like a shroud. Inside the library, Julian, Clara, and Marcus stood around the central table, their weapons checked and ready.
"The manor's walls are two-foot-thick reinforced granite," Julian said, his eyes tracing the defensive layout on the security monitor. "The blast doors will hold off small arms, but they brought heavy tactical gear. When they breach the foyer, they'll funnel through the grand staircase."
"Let them," Clara said, her voice completely calm. She walked over to the terminal, her fingers flying across the keys as she opened the live broadcast suite connected to the family’s private communications satellite. "Senator Sterling thinks this is still an era where the Council controls the newspapers. He thinks he can scrub the record like he did twenty years ago."
She connected the encrypted Swiss bank drive into the terminal.
"Every transaction, every payment to the hit squads, every illegal mining lease signed by the Council members," Clara said, looking at Julian. "I have it all queued. The moment their first breach charge detonates, this server transmits the complete unredacted database to seventy-five global news organizations, Interpol, and the International Criminal Court simultaneously."
Julian smiled grimly. "A dead man's switch."
"No," Clara said, her chin held high, the unmistakable noble fire of House Alistair blazing in her eyes. "A living heir's decree."
Suddenly, a thunderous explosion rocked the foundation of the manor. The heavy oak doors of the grand foyer below were blown inward, sending shockwaves through the marble floors. Alarms shrieked through the corridors, and the sound of heavy tactical boots began storming the lower gallery.
"Here they come!" Marcus yelled, raising his rifle toward the reinforced double doors of the library.
Julian stepped beside his sister, raising his weapon, his heart beating with a steady, lethal calm. He was no longer the conflicted groom standing paralyzed in a ballroom; he was a protector of the true lineage.
On the screen, the automated countdown flashed: BREACH DETECTED. TRANSMITTING ARCHIVES IN 3... 2... 1...
A chime echoed through the terminal. The files were gone, out into the world beyond the reach of senators, mercenaries, or corrupt dynasties. The shadow government had just been stripped naked before the entire planet.

The library doors burst open under a hail of gunfire, wood splinters flying in all directions as tactical operatives swarmed the threshold.
Julian fired the first shot into the smoke. Beside him, Clara fired her weapon, standing shoulder to shoulder with her brother as the morning sun broke violently through the stained glass windows, shattering the shadows of their family's past forever.
