Sunlight poured through the arched French windows of the Sterling dining room, illuminating the same crystal chandelier. But the stiff, cold formality of the past was long gone.
Pancakes, fresh berries, and sticky maple syrup covered the table. Lucas and Noah were laughing over cartoons, Liam was sharing bacon with the family golden retriever, and Leo was proudly showing Julian his straight-A report card.
Clara walked into the room carrying a pitcher of fresh orange juice, wearing a delicate diamond ring that sparkled in the morning light.
Julian stood up, wrapped his arms around Clara’s waist from behind, and kissed her forehead with tender warmth.
"Everything good, Mrs. Sterling?" Julian whispered.
