Lily sat cross-legged on the floor, sorting through a colorful box of building blocks while Martha sat nearby, quietly folding a basket of laundry. Clara set the paperwork down on the coffee table and sighed with deep satisfaction. “Well, that’s the last of it. The state has formally expunged your record, Martha. You are completely free, and your credentials have been fully reinstated.” Martha stopped folding a towel, pressing her hands to her face as a fresh wave of emotional release washed over her. “I still can’t believe it’s really over,” Martha murmured, her voice thick with emotion. “I was so terrified I would never see the outside of those walls again.”

Clara gently pushed the little plastic antenna down, smiling warmly. “You can keep that, Lily,” Clara said softly. “You don't need it to be brave anymore, but it's a good reminder of how strong you are.” Lily nodded slowly, clutching the toy back to her chest like a prized medal of honor.
Clara leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees. She looked at both Martha and Lily, realizing that an unbreakable bond had been forged in the crucible of the courtroom.
