Chapter 15: Awakening to the Dawn

The morning sun rose over the luxury estate, painting the eastern sky in brilliant shades of amber, gold, and violet. The security cameras mounted along the perimeter walls had been completely uninstalled the previous afternoon, their wiring stripped away and discarded in a neat pile by the front gates, leaving the sprawling property free of electronic eyes and automated surveillance for the first time in years.

Julian stood on the rear stone patio, dressed in a simple dark sweater and comfortable trousers, holding a steaming mug of black coffee. The crisp morning breeze carried the scent of wet grass and blooming jasmine from the estate gardens. The legal proceedings were officially concluded; Clara and Marcus had been remanded to federal holding facilities awaiting their final sentencing hearings, their conspiracy fully dismantled and exposed to the public record.

He took a slow sip of his coffee, feeling the warmth spread through his chest. The silence of the estate was no longer hollow or oppressive; it was peaceful, spacious, and entirely his own.
