You need to leave the premises immediately," the guard instructed calmly. Arthur struggled against their grip for a fraction of a second, his eyes flashing with impotent rage, before realizing that every notable figure in Boston’s elite business community was watching his disgraceful exit.
He cast one last venomous, pleading look toward his daughter, but Clara’s gaze remained like granite—unblinking, distant, and completely indifferent. Defeated by his own hubris, Arthur allowed himself to be escorted out of the banquet hall, vanishing into the night air outside. The collective murmur of the gala resumed almost instantly, the wealthy patrons quickly returning to their champagne and high-minded conversations, entirely unbothered by the quiet tragedy of a fallen tycoon. Clara took a slow, deep breath, adjusting the silver necklace at her throat and letting the last emotional chains of her upbringing dissolve into the ether.
Dr. Aris Thorne walked over to her side a moment later, holding a fresh glass of sparkling water and offering a knowing smile. Aris nodded approvingly, his eyes scanning the grand hall with satisfaction. "Well said. Now, get some rest.
