Chapter 4: The Confrontation

Back in the dining room, Mr. Whitford examined the empty velvet jewelry box Claire had presented as evidence. His demeanor was cold, calculated, and dangerously observant. ""This vault requires a biometric scan, Claire,"" Whitford noted, his voice calm yet dripping with suspicion. ""Only you and I have access."" Claire’s composure began to fracture. She accused the staff of wiretapping, of conspiracy, and even suggested Whitford was taking the maid's side over his own wife's. The cracks in her polished facade were finally exposed to everyone in the room.
