Wall Street analysts dismissed it as a publicity stunt, while media outlets speculated wildly about Arthur Vance’s long-lost grandson. But inside the bank, real change began on the ground floor.
Leo insisted on keeping his home in the downtown homeless shelter alongside his mother, Sarah, who suffered from a chronic heart condition. He refused the luxury limousines offered by the board, choosing instead to walk to the bank each morning in his scuffed sneakers and worn jacket.
