Behind them, the blonde manager walked back to her office, her face red with shame. The other stylists whispered among themselves, realization sinking in. They had treated a legend like trash over fifty dollars.
The manager pulled up her computer, frantically reading news articles about Stuart Durant. She read about his sudden downfall—how his corrupt business partner had framed him, leaving him destitute. Yet, despite living on the streets, Stuart had never stopped observing humanity.
She stepped back into the lobby, holding a fresh cup of artisan coffee, offering it timidly to Stuart. ""Mr. Durant... I am so sorry.""
