Chapter 14: The Ring's True Meaning**
Mrs. Gable walked onto the terrace carrying a tray of iced mint tea. She looked lighter, years younger, having taken on the role of head administrator for the foundation’s residential wing.
"A package arrived for you, Clara," Mrs. Gable said with a warm smile, placing a small velvet box on the table.
Clara opened the box. Resting on the dark satin was the six-carat heirloom diamond ring, newly reset into a simple, elegant silver band. Accompanying it was a handwritten note from Julian’s late father’s estate attorneys, confirming the full settlement and transfer of the family trust to Evelyn.
"Are you going to wear it?" Julian asked gently.
Clara looked at the diamond sparkling in the midday sun. Once, it had been a tool of deceit, used to trap and humiliate her. But looking at it now, she realized that an object held no power of its own—only the meaning given to it by human hands.
"I won't wear it as jewelry," Clara said softly, picking up the ring and looking at her sleeping daughter. "We’ll place it in the foundation’s trust vault. When Evelyn turns eighteen, she can decide whether to sell it to build schools or keep it as a reminder."
"A reminder of what?" Julian asked.
