Chapter 13: The Press Conference

The flashbulbs outside the grand entrance of Sterling Tower popped with blinding intensity, creating a strobe-like effect that illuminated the damp autumn air. Hundreds of journalists, photographers, and broadcast crews had gathered behind metal barricades, buzzing with fierce anticipation as rumors of a massive corporate shakeup and family feud leaked to the financial press overnight.
At precisely nine o'clock, the heavy glass doors swung open. Sarah stepped out onto the podium, dressed in her signature beige blazer, her posture radiating calm, unshakable confidence. Beside her walked Arthur, his expression solemn yet resolute, holding young Noah securely by the hand. Noah wore a clean blue long-sleeve shirt, looking up at the flashing lights with wide, courageous eyes, completely shielded from the chaos by his mother's protective presence.
Behind them stood Harrison Vance, carrying a thick binder of public disclosure documents detailing the complete corporate restructuring, the dissolution of illegal subsidiaries, and the establishment of the new worker compensation and environmental remediation funds.
Robert Vance stepped up to the microphone first, tapping it once to quiet the roaring crowd of reporters shouting competing questions from the pavement. "Quiet, please. Ladies and gentlemen of the press, thank you for attending. Today, Sterling Industries is announcing a comprehensive reorganization of our corporate governance and asset holding structure."
Sarah stepped forward to the central microphone, her voice carrying clearly across the amplification system and into the recording lenses of every major news network in the country.
"Effective immediately, control of the Sterling family trust and its primary industrial assets has been legally transferred to the rightful beneficiaries," Sarah announced, her voice steady and resonant. "Furthermore, the executive leadership is voluntarily initiating a complete forensic audit of all past operations. We are dissolving our offshore subsidiaries, fully funding environmental cleanup initiatives across all our manufacturing sectors, and dedicating five hundred million dollars directly to worker compensation and community welfare."
An uproar of shouted questions exploded from the press corps.
"Mrs. Vance-Sterling! Is this an admission of corporate fraud?" shouted a reporter from the front row, thrusting a microphone forward. "Are you dismantling a multi-billion-dollar empire because of internal family strife?"
May you like
"No, Mr. Reporter," Sarah replied, her gaze piercing the camera lens with absolute clarity. "We are dismantling a legacy of corruption because wealth built on exploitation has no future. For too long, this company hid behind family crests and corporate veils to avoid accountability. Today, that era ends. We are building a new foundation based on transparency, integrity, and basic human dignity. Not just for our family, but for everyone who works beneath our roof."
Arthur looked down at Noah, gently squeezing his small hand, feeling a profound sense of peace wash over him for the first time in his adult life. The gilded cage was gone. In its place stood an honest future.
