Chapter 1 - The Verdict That Shook the Silent Courtroom

"Stand right there, son," the lawyer whispered, his heavy hand resting firmly on the boy’s trembling shoulder.
Leo clutched the rough wooden partition, his eight-year-old knuckles turning white. He stared up at the towering oak bench where the elderly judge sat in solemn judgment.
In the back row of the gallery, David, a man with a dark beard and a worn green shirt, buried his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking with silent, desperate sobs. The air in the courtroom tasted of dust, old paper, and profound defeat.
Judge Sterling adjusted his spectacles, looking down at the small child with a gaze that felt heavy enough to crush stone.
"If you want to save your father, ask them to follow and like this video," the judge commanded, his voice echoing strangely against the marble walls, as if speaking to an unseen audience beyond the courtroom doors.
Leo blinked, heavy tears spilling over his eyelashes. He turned his face directly toward the invisible lens hovering in the center aisle, his voice cracking with deep emotional distress.
"Please, follow and like this video so I can save my dad," Leo pleaded, his small voice breaking the heavy silence of the room.
The gallery erupted instantly. A murmur of absolute confusion rolled through the wooden benches before sharp arguments broke out among the spectators and legal counsel.
"Objection, Your Honor!" Prosecutor Vance shouted, slamming his briefcase down onto the table with a loud bang that made Leo flinch. "This entire proceeding is a grotesque farce! What kind of judicial standard relies on digital metrics? This is completely unconstitutional!"
Defense Attorney Miller stood up immediately, his face flushed with righteous anger as he pointed a trembling finger at the prosecutor.
"You know damn well why we are here, Vance!" Miller yelled back, his voice booming across the courtroom. "You locked him away on fabricated evidence to protect the city's corporate sponsors, and now you want to bury him forever in a federal penitentiary!"
"Silence in this courtroom!" Judge Sterling struck his gavel once, the sharp crack silencing the shouting men, though the tension remained thick enough to cut with a knife.
The judge looked back down at Leo, whose tears were still wet on his pale cheeks.
"The order stands," Judge Sterling declared coldly, leaning forward. "The algorithm of public attention is the only remaining condition for his release."
David stood up from the pew, pushing past the wooden gate with wild eyes.
"Don't do this to him, Your Honor! Take me instead!" David cried out, rushing forward before two bailiffs grabbed his arms and forced him backward.
Leo watched his father being restrained, his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird.
