Chapter 11: The Federation Assembly

The regional martial arts federation headquarters was an imposing concrete and glass monolith located in the heart of the city’s financial district. Its lobby featured soaring ceilings, polished granite floors, and a massive bronze statue of ancient warriors locked in combat. At precisely nine o'clock in the morning, the heavy glass revolving doors spun open, and Elena stepped inside. She was flanked by Jin, Marcus, and Kaito. Together, the four of them moved with the synchronized purpose of a vanguard unit entering hostile territory. They wore no matching uniforms, but their unified posture commanded immediate attention from the security personnel stationed near the elevators.

They bypassed the front desk entirely, ignoring the receptionist’s startled protests as Kaito flashed his master-level federation credential. They rode the private elevator up to the top-floor executive boardroom—the same room where the disciplinary committee held its closed-door tribunals. As the elevator doors slid open, they stepped out into a sprawling reception area overlooking the city skyline. Waiting for them outside the heavy oak boardroom doors were Director Vance and Harrison, the wealthy investor whose family’s legacy of corruption was now neatly tucked inside Elena’s backpack.

Harrison looked visibly shaken, his tailored suit jacket slightly rumpled, his face pale under the fluorescent hallway lights. He had clearly been informed of the security breach at the municipal archives. Beside him stood two private security contractors, their arms crossed over their chests in a heavy-handed attempt at intimidation. Vance stepped forward, holding up a hand to block their path. “You have no appointment here, Ms. Chen,” Vance said sharply, trying to project an authority that was rapidly evaporating. “This floor is restricted to federation members and registered board delegates only.”

Elena stopped just two feet away from Vance, her expression entirely serene, her dark hair still tied back in its signature ponytail. She did not raise her voice, but every word she spoke cut through the tension like a razor. “I am not here to request a hearing, Vance. I am here to deliver a verdict,” Elena stated calmly. She reached into her backpack, pulled out the clear plastic archival sleeve containing the original property transfer form and the bribe payout receipt, and held it up so the bold signatures were clearly visible to everyone in the hallway. Harrison’s eyes widened in sheer panic, his breath catching in his throat.

“You’re holding a stolen document from an unauthorized archive break-in,” Harrison stammered, stepping forward with a trembling finger pointed at the paper. “That’s inadmissible hearsay! Security! Remove them from the building immediately!” The two private security contractors started forward, reaching for their cuffs. But before they could take a step, Kaito and Jin moved in tandem, placing themselves squarely between the guards and Elena. Their stances were grounded, their eyes locked on the guards with a terrifying, absolute stillness that made both men freeze in their tracks. One wrong move, and the hallway would erupt into total chaos.

“Touch her, and you’ll answer to every master instructor in this district,” Kaito said softly, his voice dropping into a register that vibrated with suppressed lethargy and immense power. Marcus stepped up beside them, his massive frame blocking the secondary exit, effectively cutting off any retreat. Harrison looked desperately at Vance, but Vance had already stepped back, realizing that the house of cards was collapsing under the weight of undeniable physical evidence. Elena stepped past the frozen guards, her boots clicking rhythmically against the granite floor as she reached out and pushed the heavy oak doors of the boardroom wide open, inviting the truth to finally step into the light.
