Chapter 12: The Turning Point

Before Sterling could finish his sentence, the heavy steel door of the office swung open. Two guards emerged, dragging Sarah Miller between them. Her hands were bound behind her back with plastic zip-ties, and her clothes were disheveled, but her eyes blazed with a fierce, defiant anger that mirrored her son's.

"Jax, don't sign a damn thing!" Sarah shouted, struggling against her captors.

"Shut her up," Sterling ordered coldly, waving a hand dismissively.

One of the guards raised the butt of his rifle to strike her. In that fraction of a second, Jax moved with explosive speed. He raised his pistol and fired a single shot into the metal catwalk railing just inches from the guard's ear, the deafening crack echoing through the cavernous warehouse like thunder.

"Touch her, and you die where you stand," Jax said, his voice dropping into a terrifying, lethal register that made even Sterling flinch.

The guard froze, lowering his weapon instantly.

At that exact moment, the heavy metal doors on the ground floor far below crashed open. Miller and Davis surged into the building, their sidearms drawn, moving with tactical precision.

"Clear!" Miller's voice bellowed up from the ground floor, echoing off the concrete walls.

Sterling’s face drained of color as he realized his trap had just been turned against him. He reached inside his jacket for his own weapon, but Jax was already closing the distance across the catwalk, moving with relentless fury.

Before Sterling could draw his gun, Jax lunged forward, tackling him against the metal railing. The whiskey glass shattered on the floor below as the two men grappled for dominance. Sterling threw a desperate punch, catching Jax across the jaw, but Jax absorbed the blow without flinching. With a sharp, decisive strike, Jax disarmed his former partner, pinning Sterling hard against the cold steel railing with his forearm pressed firmly against Sterling’s throat.

"It's over, Marcus," Jax whispered, his breathing heavy, his dark eyes burning with cold rage.

Below them on the ground floor, the remaining mercenaries dropped their weapons as Miller and Davis trained their sights on them, shouting orders to get on the ground. The fight was over in less than a minute.

Jax didn't wait for Sterling to answer. He turned away, leaving his former COO gasping for air against the railing, and rushed toward the office door where Sarah stood free of her captors, the zip-ties cut away by Miller who had just raced up the stairs.

"Are you alright?" Jax asked, his tough exterior melting away as he looked at her.

Sarah nodded, breathless, stepping forward and wrapping her arms around him in a tight, grateful embrace. "I'm okay. Let's get out of here. Let's go get my boy."
