Chapter 15

The small chapel of St. Jude’s parish was bathed in the warm, golden light of a late autumn afternoon. There were no grand floral arches, no cascading ivy, and no eighty expectant guests waiting in the pews. Just the quiet hum of stained-glass sunlight filtering across the polished wooden floorboards.

Julian stood near the altar, wearing a simple dark suit without a tuxedo or a dramatic bow tie, his expression serene and deeply grounded. Evelyn walked slowly down the aisle alone, wearing a graceful, minimalist cream-colored dress that caught the gentle breeze drifting through the open side doors. Her blonde hair was styled in a loose braid interwoven with a single sprig of white baby’s breath.

Lily stood near the front pew, wearing her white dress and her white headband with the flower, holding a small basket of autumn petals. Her big blue eyes sparkled with happiness as she watched Evelyn approach the altar. There were no tears on Lily’s face today—only an innocent, radiant smile that reflected the restored peace of their family.

As Evelyn reached the altar, Julian stepped forward, taking her hands in his. The invisible weight that had burdened their lives for years was entirely gone, replaced by the quiet strength of a shared truth and mutual redemption.
