THE PRICE OF A DOUBLE LIFE AND THE LOVERS' COLD REVENGE

The blizzard howling across the peaks of Aspen, Colorado, was blinding, but inside his customized Range Rover, Julian Mercer felt nothing but warmth and absolute supremacy. At thirty-four, Julian was a mastermind. He was the golden boy of Silicon Valley, the CEO of a multi-billion-dollar tech conglomerate, and a man who believed the rules of morality simply did not apply to his tax bracket.
He glanced at the diamond-encrusted Patek Philippe on his wrist. 8:00 PM. Perfect.
Tonight, he was playing his most dangerous and thrilling game. Back in New York, his elegant fiancée, Victoria—the ruthless daughter of his lead investor—believed he was on a solo corporate retreat to clear his mind before their lavish spring wedding. Meanwhile, waiting for him at his secluded, glass-walled mountain chalet was Sienna. Sienna was a fiery, passionate artist from Madrid, completely captivated by Julian’s charm, believing he was in the process of a messy divorce.
Two distinct worlds. Two beautiful women. And Julian flawlessly controlled both.
He pulled into the snow-covered driveway of the chalet. The towering glass structure glowed like a warm lantern against the violent, dark snowstorm. Julian grabbed a velvet box from the passenger seat—a diamond tennis bracelet to keep Sienna docile and distracted—and walked to the heavy oak front door.
He punched in the keypad code. The door clicked open.
"Sienna, darling, I'm here!" Julian called out, shaking the snow from his Tom Ford cashmere coat. "You won't believe the drive up here."
Silence. The only sound was the crackling of the massive stone fireplace in the center of the sunken living room.
Julian frowned, walking down the short corridor. "Sienna?"
He stepped into the living room and froze. The velvet box slipped from his fingers, hitting the hardwood floor with a muffled thud. The breath was violently knocked out of his lungs.
Sitting on the curved leather sofa, bathed in the warm, flickering light of the fire, was Sienna. But she wasn't alone.
Sitting right next to her, elegantly crossing her legs and sipping a glass of vintage Pinot Noir, was Victoria.
"Hello, Julian," Victoria said. Her voice was terrifyingly calm, smooth like ice sliding over glass. "You’re late. Sienna and I were just getting worried."
Sienna didn't look like the naive, lovestruck artist Julian knew. Her dark eyes were completely devoid of warmth. She raised her own wine glass in a mock toast. "We were just comparing notes, mi amor. Did you know you used the exact same poetic lines to describe my eyes as you did Victoria's? How unoriginal."
Julian’s mind scrambled. Panic, cold and sharp, flooded his veins. He tried to put on his signature, bulletproof smile. "Victoria... what is this? Sienna, what did you tell her? Victoria, listen to me, this woman is crazy, she's a stalker who’s been obsessed with my company—"
"Stop." Victoria held up a single, perfectly manicured hand. The absolute authority in her voice made Julian’s mouth snap shut. "Don't insult our intelligence, Julian. It’s beneath you. Or maybe it isn't."
Victoria reached beside her and picked up a thick, black leather folder. She tossed it onto the glass coffee table. It slid across and stopped right at Julian’s feet.
"What is that?" Julian choked out, taking a step back.
"That," Sienna answered, her voice dripping with venom, "is the culmination of a six-month friendship. You see, Julian, women talk. When you left your unlocked phone in my apartment back in June, I didn't ignore the message from 'V. Rossi.' I called her."
"At first, I wanted to destroy her," Victoria continued, taking a slow sip of her wine. "But then we met for coffee. And we realized something beautiful. The only thing you loved more than deceiving women was deceiving your board of directors."
Julian's face turned a sickening shade of pale. "What are you talking about?"
"The offshore accounts, Julian," Victoria said coldly. "The fifty million dollars you embezzled from my father's investment fund to fuel your secret lifestyle and your gambling debts in Macau. Sienna was kind enough to install a little piece of spyware on your personal laptop while you were sleeping in her bed. I used the data to trigger an emergency board meeting this morning."
"You... you can't do that," Julian stammered, his legs giving out. He collapsed onto the edge of a chair, his arrogant empire crumbling into dust in a matter of seconds. "I am the CEO! I own this company!"
"Not anymore," Victoria smiled, though her eyes were dead. "You were voted out unanimously at 4:00 PM today. My father has frozen all your assets. Your credit cards are declined. Even this chalet is technically company property now."
Julian looked at Sienna, desperate. "Sienna, please. I love you. We can run away. I still have money hidden—"
"Save it, Julian," Sienna stood up, buttoning her chic winter coat. "I despise you. You took a year of my life, but I took your freedom."
The sound of distant, wailing sirens began to echo through the mountain pass, piercing the howling wind of the blizzard. The blue and red flashing lights began to reflect off the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the chalet.

"The FBI has been building a fraud case for three hours," Victoria said, standing up and smoothing her skirt. "They are very eager to speak with you."
Julian sat frozen, staring out the glass windows as the police cruisers surrounded the property. He had tried to be the master of two worlds, but as the two women walked out the door without looking back, Julian was left with absolutely nothing but the ashes of his lies.
