ON OUR WEDDING NIGHT I DISCOVERED MY WIFE’S ‘BEST FRIEND’ WAS ACTUALLY HER LOVER — AND THEY HAD PLANNED EVERYTHING

The wedding in the Scottish Highlands had been perfect. Snow-covered mountains, a castle venue, and the woman Daniel Crawford had loved for five years now wore his ring.

After the guests left, Daniel and his new wife, Olivia, returned to their luxurious honeymoon suite. Olivia said she was exhausted and wanted to shower first. Daniel poured himself a glass of whiskey and sat by the fireplace, smiling at how lucky he was.

Then Olivia’s phone, which she had left on the table, lit up with a message.

Daniel wasn’t the type to check his wife’s phone. But the name on the notification made him pause.

It was from “James” — Olivia’s so-called best friend who had been at their wedding earlier that day.

The message read: “Did he buy it? Can’t wait until this is all over and we can finally be together properly. I love you.”

Daniel’s hand tightened around the glass.

He opened the conversation.

What he found made his stomach turn.

Months of messages. Photos. Plans. They had been having an affair for over a year. James had even helped Olivia plan the wedding — choosing the venue, the flowers, the menu — all while sleeping with her behind Daniel’s back.

The worst part? The final messages from that morning.

Olivia: “After tonight, I’ll start the process. He won’t suspect anything for a while. We’ll have the money from the joint account soon.”

James: “Good. Once the divorce is done, we can disappear. I can’t wait to start our real life.”

Daniel sat in silence for a long time, staring into the fire.

When Olivia came out of the bathroom in her silk robe, smiling, Daniel looked at her calmly.

“Did you enjoy the wedding?” he asked.

She nodded. “It was perfect.”

Daniel stood up, walked to the door, and picked up his suitcase — the one he had packed earlier “just in case.”

“I’m glad you think so,” he said quietly. “Because it was also the last night you’ll ever spend as my wife.”

He placed her phone on the table, screen still open to the messages.

Olivia’s face went white.

Daniel opened the door.

“James is probably waiting for your call. Tell him the plan failed.”

He walked out without looking back, leaving his new bride standing alone in the honeymoon suite she had helped design for a marriage that was already over before it began.
