Grace Bennett had suspected something for months.

Her husband Thomas had become distant, protective of his phone, and started “working late” almost every night.

Instead of confronting him, Grace hired a discreet private investigator for three days.

What the investigator delivered shocked her more than an affair.

Thomas wasn’t meeting another woman.

He was meeting with a divorce lawyer — and had already drafted papers that would leave Grace with almost nothing. He had transferred large sums to offshore accounts. He had even started looking at apartments in another city.

Grace didn’t cry. She didn’t confront him.

She took the evidence to her own lawyer the next morning.

Three weeks later, Thomas came home to find Grace sitting at the kitchen table with her own set of papers.

“I know about the offshore accounts,” she said calmly. “I know about the apartment in Manchester. And I know you’ve been planning to leave me with nothing.”

Thomas tried to deny it. Grace simply slid a folder across the table.

Inside were bank records, emails to the lawyer, and photos of him viewing apartments.

“I’ve already filed,” Grace continued. “My lawyer has frozen the accounts you tried to hide. You can keep the car and whatever is left after the settlement. But the house and the majority of our savings stay with me.”

Thomas’s face turned red with anger. “You can’t do this!”

“I already did,” Grace said. “You spent three days planning how to destroy me. I spent three weeks making sure you couldn’t.”

She stood up and picked up her keys.

“I’m staying with my sister until the papers are finalized. Don’t contact me unless it’s through the lawyers.”
